Henry and Mudge in Puddle Trouble: chapter book 6

Author: Cynthia Rylant
Illustrator: Sucie Stevenson
Published by: Aladdin Paperbacks,1990
Primary Characters: Henry and Mudge
Secondary Characters: Henry's mom and dad
Themes: friendship, spring
This is the second book in the Henry and Mudge series, about a young boy and his 180 lb dog Mudge. Rylant gives us 3 chapters of adventures as Henry and Mudge welcome spring after a long winter. This would be a great book to use in a seasons or nature unit. It breaks down in a fashion showing how spring progresses. It is also a good addition dealing with friendship and the love people have for pets. The book is written in a fashion that a young reader can easily relate. Recommended for grade K-2 with a 2.2 GLE, this is a Ready-to- Read book for students who are able to read independently.
