In this the sixth book of Beverly Cleary's beloved Ramona Series, readers can join the Quimby family as they face changes to there everyday lives. While Mr. Quimby goes to college to be an art teacher and Mrs. Quimby going to work, 3rd grader Ramona has to show her family they can count on her. Ramona is final old enough to go to a new school and ride the bus all by herself. Ramona tries to do her best to prove to her family she has "grown up", but before to long Ramona's true character shines through and she lives up to her reputation. Will life ever come easily for Ramona?
Although published over twenty years ago, this is still a great book for 3rd-6th grades. Ramona is a very lovable and believable character students will easily relate to still today. It is a great tool for teaching about social struggles and family changes. With or without the available teachers book and learning kits a class set of the Ramona series will be a great addition to your class library.
